This is a distributed caching service. Initially designed as a fun toy, but has its uses. To replicate data it uses a logical clock which is far from fool proof, but fast, and doesn't require any additional coordination between members of the cluster. It has proven useful for short-lived data that is easily recreated, but nice to have cached. Recently viewed items. Dashboard data. Things of that nature.

Definitely don't use it for anything important.
